New outdoor area at Klaffenbach primary school opens

Invitation: on 26 June, 9 a.m. - school children put on a short programme

On Thursday 26 June at 9 a.m., the head of the Chemnitz City Education Authority, Jirka Meyer, will hand over the new outdoor facilities at Klaffenbach Primary School. The inauguration of the new play area is open to the public and the pupils have prepared a short programme. Representatives of the media are also invited.

Over the past few months, various pieces of play equipment have been installed in the public green area (next to the monument) and new pathways have been built to expand the play and recreational opportunities for the children at Klaffenbach Primary School. This was done in consultation with the school.

Three themed areas have been created: a play area with a double swing and a sand play area for creativity and communication, a larger climbing combination for exercise and - thanks to the support of the local council - a new table tennis table, as well as attractive balancing equipment for playing in nature.

The existing and safe large trees are a great advantage with their shade for the newly created play area. The play area is demarcated by a lockable fence system and further planting of existing privet hedges (closing the gap).

The total costs amount to approx. 160,000 euros. The planning was carried out by iproplan Planungsgesellschaft mbH from Chemnitz. The construction work was carried out by Grünbau Bad Schlema GmbH, which is also responsible for the completion and development maintenance.
