New opening of the district library in the Vita Centre
The district library in the Vita-Center will open its new premises in a new ambience and with an extended service on Wednesday, 24 October, from 2 pm. To mark the opening, the library is inviting young and old to a colourful afternoon of live music, reading and craft activities and consumer protection information from 2pm to 6pm.
The largest branch of the city library was located in the "Play & Fun" area of the "Vita Centre" for 20 years. The planned conversion of this part of the building by the centre management necessitated a new location for the facility, which is now at ground level, barrier-free and easily accessible at the entrance to the shopping mall. Visitors can look forward to an additional opening day. From 24 October, the district library will also be open every Wednesday from 2 pm to 6 pm. In line with customer wishes, great importance was attached to improving the quality of the visit. There is a new, spacious work zone for students and cosy reading areas with a new sofa in the crime corner. The tried and tested library service is of course still available. Around 24,000 media, books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, board, computer and console games, newspapers, e-media and the Internet - the entire range of media is available for borrowing. Requested media from the library network are delivered by courier to the respective branch. Readings, lectures and educational library events, especially for schools, daycare centres and after-school care centres, complete the offer.
Visitors who register or activate their library card by 27 October will receive a 20 percent discount on the annual fee.
Relocation of the book bus depot : The depot for the exchange stock of the book bus has also moved to the Vita Centre. At the same time, the bus now has a permanent parking space behind the shopping centre again, as renovation work at the previous location, Hans Sager Primary School, made the move necessary.
