New online learning portal launched by the city library
Cooperation agreement between the city library and adult education centre
From 19 October, the city library will be expanding its digital offering with an online learning portal for self-directed, individual learning. Library customers can train their knowledge in the three areas of IT, languages and career, communication and self-management. The interactive e-learning courses are available around the clock.
Each course can be completed at your own pace and according to your own schedule.
All courses offer multimedia and interactive elements, such as video sequences, tasks to be solved or the learning text being read aloud. The courses are particularly suitable for individual self-learners who want to acquire new knowledge or consolidate existing knowledge. The learning portal and most of the courses on offer are suitable for use on mobile devices such as notebooks or tablets. Registration is possible at no extra charge with a valid library card and password at https://sbc-elearning.mit.de.
The city library and adult education centre have concluded a cooperation agreement to mark the launch of the e-learning portal.
E-learning stands for electronically supported learning - learning with computers and the Internet. With the virtual courses as a form of self-organised learning, it is possible to find an introduction to a new subject area and then build on this by attending an educationally supervised course at the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. For this purpose, links are set up that lead to the respective further VHS courses. This is also interesting for all those visitors who prefer to learn in a group under the guidance of a lecturer or who want to acquire a qualified certificate.
In the adult education centre's courses, materials from the city library's online offerings can also be used or offered as additional material for support such as homework.
The largest part of the new e-learning programme consists of language courses. Interested parties can choose between English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. LinguaTV's language courses are offered in the language levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Each customer has the option of borrowing four of these courses per year. These are available for twelve months.
The courses in the other categories can be borrowed in any number.
All courses are managed on the New Academy learning platform from M.I.T. Solution.
In co-operation with the Bücherhallen Hamburg, the range of functions of the learning management system has been adapted to the needs of libraries.
