New online learning portal for self-directed, individualised learning

Invitation to the press conference on 19 October, 11 a.m. at TIETZ

Adult education centre and city library take their cooperation to a new qualitative level. In a co-operation agreement, the two large municipal educational institutions have decided to work closely together on the selection and provision of online learning opportunities. The Internet has established itself as a place for imparting knowledge. The use of mobile devices is continuously increasing.

Chemnitz City Library is picking up on this trend and from 19 October will be offering its customers access to an online learning portal for self-directed, individual learning regardless of time and place. Users can expect interactive online training in the categories of languages, IT, careers, communication and self-management.

In the virtual courses, links are set up that direct users to further VHS programmes. In the adult education centre's courses, materials from the city library's online offerings can also be used.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to a press conference on the presentation of the e-learning portal and new developments at both TIETZ facilities next Thursday, 19 October at 11 a.m. in the Learning Room of the Central Library in the TIETZ (Science & Technology section). Speakers will be: Elke Beer, Director of the City Library, Grit Bochmann, Head of the Adult Education Centre, Diana Thümer, Digital Services Lectorate at the City Library and Katrin Wieländer, Head of Service and Media Education at the Adult Education Centre.
