New media education and digital offerings
Invitation to the press breakfast on 12 February, 9.30 a.m. in the city library
On Tuesday, 12 February at 9.30 a.m., the City Library is hosting a press breakfast to give media representatives an insight into the new possibilities and their media education. Interested media representatives can meet in consultation room 3.29 (3rd floor) in the TIETZ. To prepare for the event, please register by Friday 8 February at Sekretariat(at)stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de or call 0371 488 4201.
The introductory event "Infofahnder 2.0" for grades 5 to 7, a discovery tour through the library with interactive, digital elements and "Die große Wörterfabrik" - a picture book app with analogue and digital ideas to try out for yourself - will be used as examples to present innovative media education concepts from the city library. There will also be an overview of other media education programmes, e.g. the specialised work consultation hour for older pupils, the e-book consultation hour and the "fit on the tablet" workshop for adults and our gaming events with new impulses for leisure activities and new digital services, e.g, the e-learning portal, the streaming service Filmfriend, the online press portal Genios and the online student training programme Brockhaus.
After breakfast, at 10 a.m., a class from Valentina Tereshkova Primary School will attend the event "The Great Word Factory". Representatives of the media will have the opportunity to take photographs or sit in and see for themselves how much joy and curiosity the children take in what the city library has to offer.
Libraries have long since ceased to be mere collections of books and have become ever-evolving, lively media and information centres. Chemnitz City Library also offers a wide range of new digital services in addition to the classic analogue ones - and the trend is rising.
