Robert Rahnfeld is the new Managing Director of Verkehrslandeplatz Chemnitz/Jahnsdorf GmbH. He will represent the company as Managing Director from 1 March 2022. He will take up his position on 1 February 2022 and will manage the business for one month with Matthias Fahrhöfer, who is retiring after almost 30 years.

After graduating from high school in Greiz, Robert Rahnfeld completed a degree in aerospace engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. He then spent two and a half years in the USA, where he was trained as a weapon systems officer in the Tornado. Most recently, he was employed by the German Air Force as a consultant for the tri-national Future Combat Air System (FCAS) armaments project. He acted as an advisor to the Ministry of Defence, as an interface to industry and as a coordinator between the three air forces of the participating nations Germany, France and Spain.

In addition to his career in the German Armed Forces, Robert Rahnfeld acquired several flying licences in Germany and the USA. From his microlight pilot's licence to his commercial pilot's licence, he has in-depth knowledge of general aviation and is a passionate hobby pilot.

Robert Rahnfeld is married and will make the Chemnitz-Erzgebirge region his new home. The 37-year-old is looking forward to his new role: "My heart beats for aviation and I am looking forward to being able to contribute my strength and energy here in Chemnitz-Jahnsdorf."
