The long-distance bus terminal on Dresdner Straße near the railway platform tunnel officially goes online today. Last night, from 14 to 15 January, the first Flixbus arrived at 1.15 a.m. according to the timetable, travelling from Prague via Chemnitz to Amsterdam. Today, on the first day, a total of 18 Flixbuses will be travelling to the long-distance bus terminal.
Goldbeck Parking Services GmbH (GPS) is organising the operation of the long-distance bus terminal. Following a public tender, the company was commissioned to operate the long-distance bus terminal, including a passenger information display, a booking system for the transport companies and a video surveillance system. Passenger information is provided permanently via the operator's website.
Passengers can reach the four bus platforms, which were built as bus stop islands and are partially covered, via the widened pavement on Dresdner Straße. The buses will approach the terminal from the landward direction from Dresdner Straße. The exit will be in the direction of the city centre back onto Dresdner Straße.
33 car parking spaces have been built directly on the site, including two disabled parking spaces, three Kiss+Ride parking spaces, four for taxis, one car-sharing parking space and two for charging. Charging technology for cars and buses can be installed in the car parking spaces and bus stops at a later date.
Construction work began at the end of March 2023 and was completed at the beginning of August. Due to changes in delivery times for the steel structure and for the roof and side glazing, completion was postponed by around one month. The planned costs of around 2.87 million euros were met.
