New light installation in Innere Klosterstraße
Assembly in the Innere Klosterstraße/Börnichsgasse area from 17 to 19 March
From Monday to Wednesday, 17 to 19 March, decorative lighting will be installed in the Innere Klosterstraße/Börnichsgasse area.
The lighting installation will be an eye-catcher for visitors to the city centre by day and by night. It consists of several illuminated spheres in different sizes and muted colours. The aim is to sustainably enhance the area and thus increase the quality of stay and the feeling of safety in the city centre through the warm lighting atmosphere for residents and visitors to Chemnitz city centre.
The season-neutral lighting installation is the result of a tender last year. It was commissioned in 2024 with financial resources from the city centre fund. The investment costs amount to around 29,000 euros. The company NEL GmbH from Leipzig was commissioned with the procurement and installation.
Background
The city centre fund was approved by the city council in 2021 with the 2021/2022 budget resolution. The current annual budget of 50,000 euros is used to implement targeted measures and investments that are intended to sustainably improve the quality of life in the city centre.
