New kindergarten on the Kaßberg

City Council decides on the creation and operation of the facility by Heim gGmbH

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council approved the construction of a new daycare centre in the Kaßberg district. 100 places for crèche and kindergarten children are to be created and operated by Heim gGmbH at the Wielandstraße 4/Kaßbergstraße 17z site.

The contract was awarded to Heim gGmbH following an expression of interest procedure from August to December 2016. The tender was evaluated in January 2017 by members of the youth welfare planning subcommittee.

The new daycare centre will be built on the premises of Fortbildungszentrum Chemnitz gGmbH, Wielandstrasse 4/Kaßbergstrasse 17z. The site is spacious and park-like with some mature trees. The day-care centre will have an area of approx. 2,500 m². The new building will be equipped with a solar thermal heating system.

The centre is designed as an integrative facility. The educational concept corresponds to the SächsKitaG. At the same time, special features, needs and links to the neighbourhood will be identified.

Funding for the operation of the new daycare centre is provided in the same way as for other independent providers via a framework agreement with the City of Chemnitz in accordance with Section 17 (2) SächsKitaG.
