New head of cemetery and funeral services
City Council elects Wilma Meyer as Heike Decker's successor
At its most recent meeting, the city council elected Wilma Meyer as the new head of the Chemnitz cemetery and funeral services. She succeeds Heike Decker, who is retiring.
Wilma Meyer is a tax consultant and business graduate. The 49-year-old has been a trainer at the Free State of Saxony for training as an administrative assistant since 2020. She previously worked as a tax consultant for many years.
The City of Chemnitz Cemetery and Funeral Service was founded on 1 January 2002 as an in-house operation. It comprises the municipal cemeteries, municipal funeral parlour and crematorium.
The municipal cemeteries include the Wartburgstraße cemetery, the urn grove on Reichenhainer Straße and the cemetery on Richterweg as a memorial to the victims of war and tyranny.
