New graffiti at the main railway station
Invitation to photo session: on 8 August, 11.15 a.m., pedestrian subway Dresdner Straße
Another graffito is currently being created on the pedestrian subway to Chemnitz Central Station, Dresdner Straße, which will complement the existing façade design.
On Tuesday, 8 August at 11.15 a.m., representatives of the media are invited to a photo session on Dresdner Straße, steps to the pedestrian subway at the main railway station opposite the junction with Gießerstraße. There will then be an opportunity to talk to the artist. Martin Reinhold, head of the responsible traffic and civil engineering office, will also be on site.
The entrance to the pedestrian tunnel to the main railway station on Dresdner Straße was already upgraded with large-scale graffiti on one side in the spring of this year. Historical and contemporary motifs of buildings, buses and trains create a link between the long-distance bus terminal and the main railway station. The colour scheme is based on the colours of public transport, which will also be used in the new long-distance bus terminal currently under construction.
The costs for the design of the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel, including the part that has now been added, totalled around 38,000 euros. Graffiti protection was applied to protect the surfaces.
As the surfaces had been increasingly defaced by illegal graffiti in the past and their removal was also causing increasing costs, the professional design was arranged.
