New European Bauhaus in the cultural region of Chemnitz
Competition for school pupils
In the Chemnitz cultural region, the Saxon State Ministry of Justice and for Democracy, Europe and Equality and the City of Chemnitz, with the support of the Chemnitz State Office for Schools and Education, are organising a competition for young people between the ages of 14 and 18. The best visions for the future will be honoured in three categories with prize money of up to 300 euros. The closing date for entries is 25 June 2021.
Under the motto "New European Bauhaus", pupils are invited to submit their answers to the questions:
- How do we want to live in the future?
- What should the schools of the future look like?
- What ideas do we have for the city of the future?
in a creative way. The competition entries should visualise a vision for the future. We are looking for ideas on how ecological, economic and cultural aspects can be harmonised with sustainability and accessibility.
Entries can be submitted in three categories:
1. drawing, painting, graphics
2. sculpture and sculpture
3. modelling
The following prizes will be awarded to the three best works in each category:
1st place 300 euros
2nd place 200 euros
3rd place 100 euros
Participants born between 30 April 2003 and 1 May 2007 and resident in the Chemnitz cultural region (see appendix) are eligible to take part. For participants under the age of 16, the consent of a parent or legal guardian is required. Groups of up to three people may also take part.
The competition entries must be sent or submitted together with the registration form (see attachment) by 25 June 2021 (postmark) to the following address

Alternatively, the competition entries together with the registration form can also be submitted directly to a city/municipality in the Chemnitz cultural region up to and including 25 June 2021.

The competition is part of the European Commission's creative interdisciplinary initiative "New European Bauhaus". The Commission is calling on all Europeans to engage in dialogue to develop and realise common ideas for a sustainable, inclusive, intellectually and emotionally appealing future.
