The entrance area of the city library on the 3rd floor of the TIETZ is being modernised after 20 years of intensive use. The central service area will be reorganised and designed to be open, user-friendly and inclusive. It will receive new furniture, a new counter and the media return machine will be replaced.

The central library in the TIETZ will be closed from 2 to 4 January in preparation for the renovation work. All other district libraries will be open as normal.
The Central Library will be open again at regular times from 6 January.

During the remodelling work, which is expected to last from January until the end of March, access to the Science/Technology and Culture/Countries areas will be via the 3rd floor through the Stefan-Heym-Forum and to the events hall.

Parents with children can access the children's area via the cloakroom on the 3rd floor.
The new entrances to all areas will be signposted.
Customers will be informed via newsletters, notices and the city library's website.

There will be no late fees during this time if the items have been borrowed from the Central Library.
