New daycare centre on Zinzendorfstraße not stopped

The Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft eG is still planning to build a new day-care centre for children on Zinzendorfstraße in Altendorf. Current media reports are not correct. The operation of the facility with 100 places for crèche and kindergarten children is planned by SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH. This decision was made by the city council on 23 May 2018 and nothing has changed since then.

The situation is different with another planned expression of interest procedure for the construction of a daycare centre in the Kaßberg/Altendorf area. This expression of interest procedure was advertised in the official gazette on 2 February 2018. This was evaluated by the evaluation committee on 4 May 2018. Three applications were received. The highest score was awarded to SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH (operator) in cooperation with Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft (client). The planned restructuring of the emergency child and youth services has resulted in a new situation: The previous building of the emergency child and youth services is located in the Altendorf district and belongs to the city of Chemnitz. It used to house a day care centre. The neighbouring property is owned by Chemnitzer Siedlungsgemeinschaft eG. For a sensible subsequent use of the building, it is now to be examined whether it is possible to convert it into a daycare centre (client CSg/operator SFZ) and dispense with a new building. CSg and SFZ are in agreement with this.
