New cultural funding programme presented by the City of Chemnitz
Ralph Burghart, Mayor for Culture and Social Affairs, presented the new "Guidelines of the City of Chemnitz for the Granting of Grants in the Field of Art and Culture" at a press conference today. This was approved by the Culture Committee at its meeting on 25 June 2020.
The new guideline is based on the "Cultural Strategy of the City of Chemnitz for the years 2018 to 2030". The thematic focus C 2 "Give space! Create conditions, develop funding models" was implemented as a first step with the new funding guideline. From 2021, more flexible and transparent forms of cultural funding will now be possible.
What's new?
- Support for cultural experiments by (cultural funding) newcomers (newcomers)
- Promoting the development and initiation of new projects
- Promotion of international exchange, supra-regional projects, mobility and residency projects
- Support for audience development measures (audience development)
- Promotion of small projects (uncomplicated authorisation)
- Concept funding
- Programme funding
- Determination of reserve funds (no upper limit on the amount of funding, no time limit from 1 March to 15 November in the current year)
- Institutional funding: Requirement active for three years (previously five years)
- Applications for multi-year funding (two-year funding or dual funding model) for selected applicants as part of institutional funding
- Grant agreement
Special funding should be given to projects that deal with the main themes of the cultural strategy:
- Modernity in Chemnitz
- Industrial culture
- Cultural and creative industries as a driving force
- Cultural education
- Cultural communication, cultural marketing and international co-operation
- Chemnitz city laboratory
- Festivals and major international events.
The 3rd amendment to the guidelines of the City of Chemnitz for the awarding of grants in the field of art and culture will enter into force on 1 January 2021.
The changes will initially be implemented gradually in 2021 and will take full effect in the 2022 funding year.
