New construction of the Haardt bridge in the Röhrsdorf district completed on schedule
Opening to traffic tomorrow, Friday 26 June
Tomorrow afternoon, the new Haardt bridge over the Pleißenbach in Chemnitz-Röhrsdorf will be opened to traffic and the established diversion will be cancelled.
The bridge construction work, which began on 1 December 2014, can therefore be completed within the contractual construction period.
The new bridge can now be used without load restrictions and has a span of 6.62 metres, a 5.5-metre-wide carriageway and two 1.75-metre-wide footpaths. The new bridge was built to increase the drainage cross-section of the Pleißenbach.
A particular challenge during the realisation was working in the area of a high-voltage power line. Height restrictions had to be observed and temporary shutdowns were necessary.
The replacement construction was necessary due to the poor condition of the structure and its limited load-bearing capacity, especially as the structure is located on the planned transport route for heavy-duty transformer transport to the substation in Röhrsdorf.
The construction costs of the bridge amount to approx. 220,000 euros.
The project received 85 per cent funding from the Free State of Saxony as part of the municipal road and bridge construction programme.
Baugesellschaft Am Scheibenberg mbH was commissioned to carry out the construction work.
