New construction of the Haardt bridge in Röhrsdorf begins on Monday

Next Monday, work will begin on the new construction of the Haardt bridge over the Pleißenbach in Chemnitz-Röhrsdorf.

The replacement construction is necessary due to the poor structural condition and limited load-bearing capacity, especially as the structure is located on the planned transport route for heavy-duty transformer transport to the substation in Röhrsdorf.

With a span of 6.62 metres, the new bridge will carry a 5.5-metre-wide carriageway and two 1.75-metre-wide footpaths. The new bridge replacement will increase the existing drainage cross-section of the Pleißenbach.

The bridge area must be completely closed for the work. A diversion via Goetheweg and Jack-London-Straße has been signposted for local residents.

The bridge should be completed by the end of June 2015. The construction costs amount to around €220,000. The project is 85 per cent funded by the Free State of Saxony as part of the municipal road and bridge construction programme. Baugesellschaft "Am Scheibenberg" mbH has been commissioned with the construction work.
