New construction of barrier-free bus stops begins
On Monday, 15 April, work will begin on the construction of seven new barrier-free bus stops. This concerns the bus stops Lichtenauer Weg West and East, Gemeindepark in Röhrsdorf, Ludwig-Kühn-Straße South and North, In der Delle South and Reha-Zentrum für Blinde West.
In addition to renewing the surfaces in the bus stop areas, the existing pavements will also be extended to make them more accessible for boarding the bus.
The new barrier-free bus stop areas will create suitable structural infrastructure for bus transport and thus improve the bus network in the city of Chemnitz.
The work should be completed by 27 September. The company Asphalt-Bau Chemnitz ABC Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH from Bernsdorf has been commissioned to carry out the work.
The costs for the construction work amount to around 430,000 euros. The state of Saxony is subsidising 90 percent of the eligible parts of the project.
