New construction of a primary school with sports hall
Start of preparatory building investigations
From the 2021/2022 school year, a two-form entry primary school is to open on the southern Sonnenberg at the Jakobstraße/Martinstraße site. For this reason, preparatory investigations, i.e. explosive ordnance probing, have been underway on this site since this week. Deep boreholes are being drilled in a narrow grid on the school site to prove that there is no explosive ordnance.
From April 2020, preparatory construction measures will follow and existing media lines will be relocated or dismantled. Construction of the school and sports hall is then set to begin in summer 2020. The costs for the school and sports hall total 18.5 million euros.
The new construction of the two-form entry primary school on the southern Sonnenberg should cover the capacity requirements as early as 2021/2022. In order to meet the tight schedule, it is planned to award the construction work to a general contractor. The demand for eight classes at the site in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 school years can then be covered accordingly.
In addition to the school, the project includes the construction of a two-court sports hall and the associated outdoor facilities. The planned project will expand and strengthen the existing square with the "KiFaZ" children's and family centre and the "Bunte Gärten" sports and leisure areas.
