New construction and dismantling of playgrounds

Implementation of the 2025 playground concept

Since March, numerous new playgrounds have been realised by the city of Chemnitz, e.g. at Luisenplatz, Andréplatz, the "UK" youth club in Helbersdorf and Konkordiapark. Further playgrounds are currently being planned. For example, in Adelsberg, on the green belt in Bernsdorf, in the new Rabenstein green corridor, at the zoo, on Rosenplatz and in the city park.

Playground facilities are also scheduled for demolition. This affects the following facilities: Park Kappel, Stelzendorf playground (on Neukirchner Straße) - both confirmed during the public participation process - and the football pitch on Hohe Straße (behind the Hartmannhalle) near Konkordiapark, which will be expanded with additional functions (parkour facility) in return. These facilities are currently being dismantled and will be in the coming weeks.

The new construction and dismantling of playgrounds in the city of Chemnitz is planned in the 2025 playground concept.

To the playground concept 2025:
The Playground Concept 2025 was adopted by the City Council on 21 May 2014. The document contains details on which municipal playgrounds and leisure facilities in Chemnitz will be renovated, expanded or, if necessary, demolished. Categorised by city area, it describes the condition of individual playgrounds and the city's specific plans for their continued existence, improvement or, if necessary, demolition.
