Never been to Düsseldorf before? Would you like to change that with us?
Chemnitz is celebrating two 30-year anniversaries this year and next: the fall of the Berlin Wall (2019) and reunification (2020). We want to celebrate these events together with our twin city of Düsseldorf. In order to deepen the partnership and fill it with life, the city is looking for 30 Chemnitz residents who would like to travel to Düsseldorf in 2020 to get to know the people and the city. 30 Düsseldorfers will be travelling to Chemnitz at the beginning of November. Among other things, they will visit the Kaßberg prison, talk to contemporary witnesses and engage in dialogue with Chemnitz residents.
"By visiting each other, we want to ensure that any existing prejudices are broken down, that more personal relationships develop between the cities and that the partnership becomes even more vibrant. In personal conversations and encounters, our citizens will experience what unites and connects them," says Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig about this invitation to everyone.
Are you interested? Have you never been to Düsseldorf before? Are you over 18 years old? Then register at the Mayor's Office of the City of Chemnitz, Markt 1, 09111 Chemnitz or at buergermeisteramt(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
The costs for travelling there and back and for overnight accommodation will be borne by the respective city.
Tell us why you, of all people, want to go to Düsseldorf. The closing date for entries is 11 October. If there are more than 30 applicants, the decision will be made by drawing lots.
