Network founded to come to terms with the history of National Socialism
Saxon associations, initiatives and memorials join forces
From 28 to 29 November 2015, Saxon associations, initiatives and memorial sites that deal with the history of National Socialism will meet at the adult education centre in the TIETZ, event hall, 3rd floor, to establish a network and promote exchange among themselves. The founding conference is based on a co-operation between the Initiative Klick and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. Participation is free of charge.
There are currently four memorial sites in Saxony that deal with the history of National Socialism. In addition to these existing memorials, there are also smaller and larger initiatives by young people who deal with the history of their region during the National Socialist era. Interested parties often only come across these initiatives and their work by chance. They are characterised by good approaches to communicating history or new ideas of remembrance.
Conference programme
On Saturday, 28 November 2015, the focus will be on the mutual exchange of approaches and ideas for memorial site work. The following topics will be covered in three workshops: Research work in archives, new media in memorial pedagogy and remembrance politics in Saxony.
A visit to the future memorial site in Sachsenburg is planned for Sunday, 29 November 2015. Afterwards, Dr Dietmar Sedlaczek, director of the memorial in Moringen, will give a talk on the work of the Lower Saxony Memorials Interest Group. This will be followed by an exchange on the future work of the Saxon network.
