Neefestraße is opened
Invitation for journalists: on 29 November, 12.30 pm, access to Neefepark
On Friday 29 November at 12.30 pm, Mayor Michael Stötzer will ceremonially open the Neefestraße to traffic. The meeting point is on the street Im Neefepark, under the Neefestraße bridge(50.809066, 12.862871).
Representatives of the media are invited to this event. The release will take place during an approximately ten-minute drive in an Ikarus vintage car, which will take you via Neefepark, Tuchschererstraße (industrial estate), Carl-von-Bach-Straße and back via Neefestraße.
The main construction work for the entire Neefestraße project will be completed by 29 November. From 2 to 12 December, trees will be planted in the central and peripheral areas.
The overall Neefestraße project will realise the following in detail between July 2023 and November 2024
- Replacement construction of the two Neefestraße bridges over the Im Neefepark road,
- Extension of the threading lane from Neefepark onto Neefestraße towards the city centre by 75 metres by building a 100-metre-long retaining wall, and
- Road renewal of Neefestraße between the A72 and Südring in both directions over a total length of 1200 metres. Noise-reducing asphalt was used in the process.
As a result, this important and heavily used traffic infrastructure has been upgraded. The lengthening of the merging lane has improved road safety at the accident blackspot.
Mayor Michael Stötzer: "The construction project was very complex, so that road closures and diversions were unfortunately unavoidable. We would therefore like to thank all road users and neighbours for their patience. A total of 15 phases of traffic management and measures to maintain access to Neefepark were required to carry out all the work while traffic continued to flow. Thanks to the prudent preparation and efficient execution of the construction work by the contractor, Hoch- und Tiefbau Reichenbach GmbH, the overall project was completed on time and to the required quality."
The total volume of the project is around 11.6 million euros. The project was subsidised by the Free State of Saxony with grants amounting to around 5.7 million euros, as this is a measure of particular interest to the state.
