Necessary tree felling

Opening up of the Wiesenbach stream above the Oberfrohnaer Straße bridge in Chemnitz/ Siegmar

The Wiesenbach stream has an accessible concrete cover directly above the Oberfrohnaer Straße bridge. During an inspection of the structure, it was found to be in a damaged condition which impairs its stability. In order to avoid a costly renovation, it is planned to dismantle the concrete cover, which is located on a municipal green space, and to open up the Wiesenbach.

To realise this project, nine trees (DU 0.20 m to max. 0.50 m) located on or directly next to the concrete cover of the Wiesenbach will have to be felled. These trees cannot be preserved for the removal of the concrete cover and opening up of the meadow stream with the creation of a near-natural embankment.

The felling is planned for the 46th to 47th calendar week of 2015. Compensation for the felled trees will be provided by the Parks Department.

The land on which the tree felling is planned is owned by the city. The location of two trees is on a directly neighbouring private property. The landowner's consent to the felling was obtained.

As the tree felling will take place between 1 October and 28 February, no nature conservation issues will be affected.
