Nationwide reading aloud day on 17 November

Reading event in the city library with CFC player Julius Reinhardt and politicians Detlef Müller and Hubert Gintschel

For the 14th time, DIE ZEIT, the Reading Foundation and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation are calling on the whole of Germany to take part in the nationwide Read Aloud Day. Chemnitz City Library has been taking part from the very beginning.

This year, on Friday 17 November, CFC footballer Julius Reinhardt will read from selected children's books at a public event from 5 p.m. in the Children's World of the Central Library and will then be available to sign autographs and take photos.

Prior to this, the two Chemnitz politicians Detlef Müller (9 a.m.) and Hubert Gintschel (10 a.m.) will also be guests at the Central Library in the TIETZ and read exciting stories to invited kindergarten groups.

The nationwide Read Aloud Day is a high-profile event that emphasises the importance of reading aloud. The aim is to awaken enthusiasm for reading and reading aloud and to bring children into contact with the written and narrated word at an early age.
