Nationwide reading aloud day: Lord Mayor reads in a daycare centre
Invitation to the photo session: 17 November, 10.30 a.m., Reichenhainer Straße 33a
On Friday, 17 November, from 10.30 a.m., Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will be reading to the children at the Krabbelkäfer day-care centre at Reichenhainer Straße 33a to mark the 20th nationwide Read Aloud Day. He will read to the children from the book "Der Igel kommt allein zurecht" by Ulf Stark and Ann-Cathrine Sigrid Stählberg.
Representatives of the media are invited to the photo session.
Reading aloud connects, reading aloud creates shared experiences between children and caregivers, reading aloud supports language development and lays important foundations for learning to read. In short, reading aloud is a valuable ritual and an early opportunity to promote reading. On 17 November, the nationwide Reading Aloud Day and a variety of activities taking place across Germany will put the spotlight on reading aloud.
Picture book cinema in the city library from 4.30 pm
From 4.30 pm on this day, young and old listeners can also listen to exciting stories at the picture book cinema in the central library of the city library. The event is a special edition of the regular reading sessions "Auf leisen Sohlen".
Admission: free of charge, registration is not required
In the reading sessions "Auf leisen Sohlen", volunteer reading mentors from the Verein Förderer der Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz e. V. take children on journeys of discovery to faraway lands, to small and big heroes or wild adventures with dragons, witches or knights.
Participation in the reading sessions is free of charge. Registration is not required.
