Musikkombinat am Brühl: Modern Times Music Congress and Charity Festival - Insights into the future music centre
Invitations on Friday from 6 pm and at the weekend from 2 pm
The former Karl Liebknecht School on Brühl is coming back to life: empty since 2008, it is now a hive of (building) activity again. It is to become a music combine, a start-up centre for bands. The main organiser and initiator of the project is Bandbüro Chemnitz e.V. When the building is completed, over 40 bands will be able to rehearse, produce and perform here and tackle the difficult music business. In addition to 20 studio and office spaces for band marketing, promotion, T-shirt production, media design and event organisation, the free Radio T and Club Atomino will also find a home on the former school grounds
The music congress: On Friday (6 September) from 6 pm and on Saturday (7 September) and Sunday (8 September) from 2 pm, the inner courtyard of the school will be open from the start of each event - interested members of the public are very welcome. Small guided tours of the building of the former Karl Liebknecht School are only available to interested parties with an escort, as it is still a building site; the guided tours are organised flexibly on site as required.
As far as the Music Congress event is concerned, there will be an open-air stage on which the first tenants of the Musikkombinat and band office friends will perform. Lots of fun and games will complement the line-up on the main stage. In addition to a ShiSha lounge, cocktail bar and grilled sausages, art connoisseurs will also get their money's worth, as the ground floor will be transformed into a photo gallery. An alumni brunch for teachers and pupils of the Karl Liebknecht School will take place on Sunday. Several workshops for musicians, creative people and other interested parties will also take place during the event. Panel discussions on topics relating to the cultural and music industry in Chemnitz will be open to lively debate: What does the future hold for the local band scene? How much noise is feasible in Chemnitz?
The charity festival: To make the roof of the Musikkombinat, which was damaged by the heavy rainfall and flooding at the beginning of June, fit for the winter, support and donations from guests are requested. For this reason, there will be no admission charge for the events.
