It’s time to say “Konnichiwa” in Chemnitz this evening: The young student band from Kagoshima, Japan, will be performing alongside the KaSchmiR Band from the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff Grammar School, which consists of six pupils aged twelve from the Municipal Music School. The young talents from Japan will be playing both wind instruments and percussion.

The young musicians will be welcomed by Ferenc Csák, Head of Cultural Affairs for the City of Chemnitz, and Makoto Takashima, Chair of the EU-Japan Fest Committee.

The exchange programme was initiated by the EU-Japan Fest Committee and the City of Chemnitz’s European Capital of Culture 2025 Unit. It is being implemented in collaboration with the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Grammar School in Chemnitz. The project promotes international cultural exchange and brings together young people from different continents.
