Musical reading with Mario Schneider
City Library: Book presentation on 23 March, 7 pm, Stefan-Heym-Forum, TIETZ
On Thursday 23 March at 7 pm, author Mario Schneider will be reading from his book "Die Paradiese von gestern" (Yesterday's paradises) at the Stefan Heym Forum in the TIETZ. He will also play his own songs.

The book:
Ella and René, a young couple from East Germany, spend their first summer in the south of France after reunification. They end up at the run-down wine castle of Madame de Violet. When her son Alain, a slick businessman, turns up for dinner, three world views collide. The situation escalates. The next morning, nothing is as it was. Alain drives back to Paris and René sits next to him, whom he introduces to high society. Meanwhile, Ella stays behind at the castle and delves deeper and deeper into the world of Madame de Violet and her secretive servant. Nobody suspects that the countess has finished with life and is just waiting for the right moment to say goodbye to this world.
The author:
Mario Schneider is a trained metallurgist for metallurgical engineering. He studied philosophy, art history, musicology, composition and piano. He lives and works as an author, film composer and director in Halle (Saale). His award-winning "Mansfeld Trilogy" became known far beyond the borders of the country. He was awarded the Klopstock Prize for New Literature for his short story collection "Die Frau des schönen Mannes".
