Musical greetings from the twin city of Düsseldorf

On Friday, 8 December at 8 pm, musical greetings from Chemnitz's twin city Düsseldorf will be heard in the Café im Weltecho, Annaberger Straße 11. To mark 35 years of friendly relations, the Sebastian Gahler Trio will be playing jazz music "Made in Düsseldorf". Chemnitz residents who have brought the twinning relationship to life in recent years will talk about their experiences on this evening.
Admission is free, registration is not necessary.
Chemnitz and Düsseldorf have been twinned for 35 years. What began as an international partnership between the East German Karl-Marx-Stadt and the West German state capital is now a close inner-German relationship characterised by a lively exchange. In the years of twinning, the citizens of the cities have grown closer on various levels. Numerous sports clubs have competed in friendly competitions, artists have presented their work in the twin city and young theatre groups from Düsseldorf have delighted a wide audience at the Chemnitz School Theatre Week.
The Sebastian Gahler Trio stands for modern jazz, the pieces are the band leader's own compositions. Singable, catchy melodies float above all the tracks and almost make you forget their complex harmonies and very varied, sometimes extremely tricky rhythms. The pieces have a lyrical, sometimes almost melancholic feel, always outshone by Gahler's own piano sound. At the concert in Chemnitz, the trio will also present several pieces from Gahler's latest concept album "Two Moons - music inspired by the works of Haruki Murakami".
