On Thursday 12 June at 7.30 pm, the town twinning between Chemnitz and Łódź will experience a musical highlight. The Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra of Łódź will perform at the Chemnitz Opera House, Theaterplatz 2.
Under the title "Mosty muzyczne - Musical Bridges II", this is the return visit after the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra performed the programme of the 9th Symphony Concert in the Polish city last year on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the town twinning with Łódź and performed works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Alexandre Tansman and Anton Bruckner. One year later, the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra Łódź is now performing at the Theatre Square as part of the summer concerts.
Under the direction of Paweł Przytocki, the concert will open with the Adagietto from Paradise Lost by Krzysztof Penderecki. The internationally sought-after pianist Anna Geniushene will then play the first piano concerto (Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in D minor op. 15) by Johannes Brahms. The concert will conclude with the Seventh Symphony (Symphony No. 7 in D minor op. 70) by Antonín Dvořák.
