From Thursday to Sunday, 5 to 8 June, the young musicians of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School's Youth Symphony Orchestra will be travelling to Düsseldorf to give a concert at the renowned Tonhalle together with their Düsseldorf colleagues. This is the next highlight of the student exchange project "CD-Exchange" following the successful visit of the Clara Schumann Players from Düsseldorf to Chemnitz in April this year.
A total of 46 pupils from Düsseldorf and 45 from Chemnitz are taking part in this ambitious project, which not only promotes musical talent, but also focusses on social and cultural exchange between young people from East and West Germany. The exchange project is sponsored by the Beisheim Foundation, which is committed to promoting education and cultural exchange.
Nancy Gibson, Director of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, emphasises the importance of this project: "In addition to the valuable musical experience, we want to offer young people from the two twin cities in the far east and west of Germany the opportunity to exchange cultural experiences and ideas. This exchange project is intended to create a long-term connection between the young people of the twin cities of Chemnitz and Düsseldorf. Communication between the young people will be expanded through music."
