Music students successful at the "Jugend musiziert" state competition in Bautzen
42 young musicians from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School celebrated their successful participation in this year's "Jugend musiziert" state competition in Bautzen last weekend. Eleven young musicians received a first prize, all other participants also won second and third prizes.
In the string ensemble category, 18 pupils from the Chemnitz Music School took part and impressed the jury with very good and excellent performances. Heinrich Bartsch, Matthias Wagner, Jette Schmidt and Clara Böttger were awarded 1st prize. However, the cello quartet in age group II is too young for the national competition, which takes place in Paderborn.
Annegret Neumann qualified for Paderborn in the piano solo category. She achieved the full score (25) and was authorised to play in the national competition. Jakob Kuhn also scored 25 points in the drum set category and has therefore qualified for the national competition. Anna Chiara Rudelt and Daniel Scherzer both scored 23 points in the piano solo category and will also be travelling to the national competition. Nanette Gruber, piano, also achieved a 1st prize with 23 points, but is too young for the national competition.
There were also pleasing results in the vocal solo category: Karolin Scheunert made it through to the national competition with 23 points. In the wind ensemble category, Bruno Hammer, trombone, scored 23 points and thus also made it through to the national competition.
