Music school and grammar school look forward to Irish guests
Students from Luttrellstown Community College Dublin as guests from 13 to 20 December
On 13 December 2017, the Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Gymnasium and the Municipal Music School will welcome 29 students and two teachers from Luttrellstown Community College Dublin (L.C.C.). The Irish guests will be in Chemnitz until 20 December. During this time, the programme includes a tour of the town hall and opera house, a visit to the SMAC and the games museum, an excursion to Leipzig, participation in lessons with the host students and sporting activities in the Chemnitz ice rink. Before returning home to Ireland, there will be a closing party at the music school on 19 December with lots of music from German and Irish students.
The student exchange programme between the L.C.C. and the two host schools in Chemnitz has already become a tradition. The last visit by pupils from the L.C.C. took place in December 2015, and in May 2016 the youth symphony orchestra from the municipal music school accepted the invitation to Dublin. In addition to daily orchestral rehearsals, the programme included a city tour of Dublin, a tour of one of the world's largest inner-city parks, Park Phoenix, and a visit to the Glendalough monastery settlement.
The student exchange organised jointly by the Karl Schmidt Rottluff Grammar School and the Municipal Music School is financially supported by the Friends of the Municipal Music School and the Karl Schmidt Rottluff Grammar School.
