"DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" invites you to another edition of the music café on Thursday, 5 November 2015 at 3 pm in the large hall of Kraftwerk e.V. at Kaßbergstraße 36. The guests this time will be Andreas Winkler and Mariam Winkler.

Andreas Winkler is a musician and music teacher at the municipal music school. He began his musical education at the age of six at the "Ottmar Gerster" music school in Weimar. He completed his music studies at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Academy of Music in Leipzig in 1989, majoring in violin. From 1989, he worked as first violinist in the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra Chemnitz and devoted himself intensively to chamber music. He was a member of the Robert Schumann Quartet and the Saxon Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. Andreas Winkler enjoys performing modern music. Concert tours, especially with new music, have taken him to France, Poland, Israel, the USA, China, Mexico and Denmark.

For some years now, he has also devoted himself intensively to the violin training of children and young people and has led his students to first prizes at state and national level. One of them is Mariam Winkler. Now twelve years old, she has been playing the violin since the age of five and has been improvising with music students from Chemnitz in Ensemble C for three years.

In an exciting and informative chat between the headmistress Nancy Gibson, Andreas Winkler and Mariam Winkler, visitors will learn interesting facts about this style of music. The conversation will be framed by musical examples.

Admission is 5.00 euros including coffee and cake. Wheelchair users please use the signposted side entrance.
