Museum Gunzenhauser: Audit procedure completed - no objections to the funding measure
At its meeting yesterday, Chemnitz City Council was informed by the administration that the audit of the Gunzenhauser Museum had been completed. The information document I-037/2014 was presented.
The Saxon Court of Audit had raised fundamental objections to the project in 2009, which were completely refuted. The Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB), which is responsible for the funding, has since audited the proof of use of the urban development funds and informed the City of Chemnitz in February 2014 that, as a result of the fulfilment of the requirements and conditions of its audit report - the Submission of the notifications from the State Directorate for the approval of the contractual agreements of the framework agreement, the financing, the management contract, the task delimitation contract and the urban development contract - there are no further objections to the "Museum Gunzenhauser" funding measure. The SAB did not identify any procurement violations for the Gunzenhauser Museum construction project and the City of Chemnitz was authorised to use the remaining small overpayment amount of EUR 261.626.48 can be used to finance further eligible individual measures in the "Chemnitz city centre redevelopment area" development area and thus repayment to the SAB can be waived entirely. The overpayment has now been reduced in the redevelopment area in favour of the redevelopment of the former Schocken department stores' and the forecourt.
The Gunzenhauser Museum was officially opened in November 2007 following the renovation of the former savings bank building on Falkeplatz(www.chemnitz.de and www.kunstsammlungen-chemnitz.de ). The ambitious building project was realised by the Gunzenhauser Foundation at a total cost of around 10 million euros, of which around 5.8 million euros was funded by the federal and state programme "urban redevelopment and development measures" (SEP) within the overall urban development measure "Chemnitz city centre redevelopment area" and co-financing from the city of approx. 3 million euros.
