Municipal music school hires music teachers on a permanent basis
Fee schedule is cancelled
The Chemnitz Municipal Music School is hiring permanent music teachers from December. The positions comprise 30 work units (WU). This was decided by the City Council at its meeting yesterday.
In addition, the municipal music school's fee structure will be abolished on 30 June 2025.
The basis for the employment contracts of music teachers with the City of Chemnitz is the collective labour agreement. The permanent employment entails an additional annual requirement of one million euros for the City of Chemnitz.
The permanent employment of music teachers implements a ruling by the Federal Social Court from 2022. This states that music school teachers who primarily teach in an institution are included in an employment relationship subject to social security contributions.
