Municipal music school fees to be increased
City council decides to amend the statutes
At its meeting today, the City Council decided to amend the fee regulations of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
Today's decision is based on a decision made by the city council in 2018.
In resolution 115/2018, the city councillors decided to increase tuition fees by around five per cent every two years. During the coronavirus pandemic in 2021/2022, the increase was waived; now the fees are to be adjusted from 1 August 2023. Discounts apply for holders of the Saxon family pass.
With the higher fees, the Municipal Music School would like to mitigate the subsidies from the City of Chemnitz and prepare for upcoming fee increases for freelance teachers, among other things. According to the calculation of the Municipal Music School, it has an annual subsidy requirement of around 1.6 million euros from the City of Chemnitz.
