Müller-Zipper fountain temporarily switched off
The Müller-Zipper fountain on the Schloßteichinsel had to be taken out of service last weekend.
For some time now, there have been recurring problems with contamination in the inflow pipe of the cistern. Due to the dry-running protection, the well pump then switches off automatically. Due to the constant switching off of the pump in recent weeks, there are now problems with the electrical system.
The well will be completely checked at the beginning of next week. If the repairs are successful, it will be back in operation by mid-August at the latest.
The fountain, which was inaugurated in 1913, was created by Bruno Spieß. It is the oldest active fountain in Chemnitz and a landmark on the Schloßteichinsel.
