More measles cases at Waldorf school
The investigations, examinations and measures initiated since 3 May 2017 have resulted in seven confirmed cases of measles. Those affected are the residents of a four-sided farm in Callenberg, who are also pupils at the Waldorf School in Chemnitz, as well as a teacher at the Waldorf School.
Some of the pupils at the Waldorf schools in Auerswalder Straße and Sandstraße in Chemnitz were banned from attending the respective class levels at the beginning of the measures. With the current state of the investigation, the attendance ban will be extended to all grades.
The attendance ban applies to all pupils at the Waldorf School who may be at risk. Parents are informed about the current situation via letters to parents and clarify to what extent their child is at risk and therefore affected by the attendance ban. Parents are in close contact with the public health department for this purpose.
Anyone who has already had measles themselves (documented by a doctor), has been fully immunised or has been immunised within three days of contact with a sick person is not at risk and is therefore protected from infection.
