More children in Chemnitz: City creates more places in daycare centres
Today, the city council unanimously approved the requirements plan for child daycare centres, early intervention facilities, after-school care facilities for children from special schools and child daycare from 2015 to 2017.
The number of children under the age of 11 living in Chemnitz will continue to rise over the next two years from 21024 to 21615 by 2017. In order to guarantee the legal entitlement to a nursery and kindergarten place, the creation of new places is required according to the new daycare needs plan. Accordingly, the daycare centre at 197 Usti nad Labem Street will be reactivated. In addition, new daycare centres are to be built in the districts of Reichenbrand, Bernsdorf and Altendorf. The capacity of existing daycare centres will be expanded.
In terms of content, the requirements plan envisages continuing to focus on the conscious and professionally based implementation of the Saxon education plan and the high-quality education and care of children. The further development of educational concepts based on modern pedagogy with the help of parents, schools and other institutions is also a focal point of the requirements plan.
The daycare centre is to develop into a place for families according to the requirements plan. Above all, the development from individual integration to inclusion is a key topic in the new daycare centre requirements plan and should enable social participation and equal opportunities for all children.
Another point of the extended requirements plan is quality assurance and quality development. The implementation of the education and upbringing standards is just as important as the qualifications of the educational staff, the organisation of participation and complaints management, as well as the further development of cooperation with parents.
