Mobile green room on the station forecourt

Temporary offer for more quality of stay - workshops on 7 and 8 April

Until Monday, 11 April, a mobile green room will adorn the forecourt of Chemnitz Central Station. The vertical greenery and tree canopy are intended to improve the quality of stay and bring passers-by a little closer to nature.

The green walls provide shade, filter dust, store water and provide a habitat for plants and animals. They reduce noise, provide cooling through evaporation and increase the quality of stay. The Mobile Green Room, which is making a guest appearance in Chemnitz as part of the Conneting Nature Roadshow 2022, thus represents a local adaptation measure to climate change.

The walls of leafy ornamental, flowering and sweet plants showcase the diversity of plants. A trellis with kiwi plants creates an intense sense of space and provides shade. Strawberries and herbs are intended to attract Chemnitz residents and guests to this unusual nature-based relaxation zone.

Workshops are also planned for Thursday, 7 April and Friday, 8 April at the Mobile Green Room. On Thursday from 9 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 11.30 am to 2 pm, everything will revolve around the questions of what nature means to people and what role nature therefore plays in our lives today.

Meanwhile, a workshop on Friday 8 April from 9 to 11.30 a.m. will shed light on the interplay between nature and business. Companies that work in a nature-based and sustainable way in the social, economic and ecological fields are invited to present themselves on site. These companies work, for example, in nature conservation, building greening, blue and green infrastructure, sustainable tourism or nature therapy. The workshop will also serve to network companies, organisations and representatives of the city in this area.
