Mobile for Tolerance" reading project - with Ayşe Bosse
Hamburg children's book author reads in primary schools on 8 and 9 November
On Monday and Tuesday, 8 and 9 November, the Hamburg author Ayse Bosse will be visiting Chemnitz primary schools for a total of four readings. She will be reading from her book "Pembo - halb und halb macht doppelt glücklich" and will talk to the children afterwards.
The book was nominated for the 2021 Youth Literature Prize in the children's book category.
The story is about Pembo, a girl who moves to Germany from Turkey with her family. She loves and misses her Turkish homeland and initially feels strange and lonely in Germany. But little by little, Pembo takes courage, explores her new surroundings and embraces the new.
Author Ayse Bosse grew up in a German-Turkish family herself. She now lives and works in Hamburg, where she also works as an actress and grief counsellor. Her books on bereavement counselling for children and young people are great successes.

The aim of the "Mobile for Tolerance" project is to promote tolerance and open-minded coexistence. Personal encounters with authors offer a wonderful opportunity to enter into dialogue with children. Stories build bridges and use words to convey impressions, experiences and feelings. Through the story of Pembo, the pupils experience what it feels like to be a stranger, are sensitised to the feelings of others, can empathise with them and stand up for them. At the same time, they can share their own thoughts and experiences.
"Mobile for Tolerance" is a project of the Chemnitz City Library Friends' Association and is funded by the Local Action Plan of the City of Chemnitz (LAP).
