Memories of Marianne Brandt
Cabinet exhibition and media presentation on the occasion of the artist's 107th birthday in the Chemnitz City Library
On Thursday, 8 October 2020, at 7 p.m., the exhibition "Memories of Marianne Brandt" will open in the TIETZ City Library with a book reading. "Who knows? Ich nicht - Hommage im Konjunktiv an Marianne Brandt" is the title of the reading by Lüneburg author Gudrun Parnitzke (see PM 588 from 1 October 2020).
The exhibition focuses on the work and influence of the Saxon designer as well as her echoes in present-day Germany, in particular her hometown of Chemnitz. In addition to design objects, memorabilia such as a special stamp with which Deutsche Post honoured Marianne Brandt in 1998 are also on display.
The showcase exhibition is accompanied by the media presentation "Marianne Brandt and the Bauhaus". The collection includes around 50 non-fiction books, novels and DVDs from the Chemnitz City Library's collection about Marianne Brandt, the Bauhaus, its icons, its stories and its legacy.
The exhibition and media presentation will be on display in the Culture & Countries section of the TIETZ City Library until 2 November 2020.
