Today in Berlin, a circle of friends of parliamentarians who want to support Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture 2025 was formed in the Bundestag.

In the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and the Managing Director of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH, Stefan Schmidtke, parliamentarians from almost all parliamentary groups in the Bundestag came together to form this circle of supporters.

Sven Schulze: "Chemnitz 2025 is a unique opportunity for the development of Chemnitz and the region. But we will also be the flagship for the entire state. I am therefore delighted that we can rely on broad support from the Bundestag.
With its various connections, this circle will ensure that our Capital of Culture receives even more support and attention than before."

The Circle of Friends was founded in the Saxon state representation in Berlin in the presence of Minister of State Conrad Clemens and the state government's representative for the Capital of Culture, State Secretary Thomas Popp.
