Meeting at future dirt bike track

Invitation for media representatives: 28 February, 4.30 pm, Kalkstraße

On Monday, 28 February at 4.30 pm, representatives of the City of Chemnitz will meet with children and young people at the future dirt bike track on Kalkstraße to discuss the design of the facility. This active form of public participation is intended to find out what the future users specifically want.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event. The meeting point is on Kalkstraße in the direction of the motorway, on the right-hand side between Oberfrohnaer Straße and Harthweg.

A new action area for dirt bikers is to be built on Kalkstraße in Rottluff before the end of this year. The previous track on Harthweg, which was designed and used by the young people themselves, had to be closed for safety reasons. Employees of the city administration and users therefore started looking for a new area and came across the site on Kalkstraße.

Together with young people and experts from the BMX scene, representatives from the building department, the Parks Department and the City of Chemnitz's children's commissioner, Ute Spindler, want to make plans for a so-called pump track. This is a self-contained circuit with banked turns, waves and jumps that can be ridden on a bike.
