Medical officer retires
Dr Harald Uerlings, the long-standing head of the City of Chemnitz Health Department, is taking early retirement at his own request at the end of the year. This was announced yesterday by Personnel Mayor Ralph Burghart in the City Council's Council of Elders.
The current deputy, Dr Holger Spalteholz, will then take over as acting head of the department until a new medical officer is appointed.
Mayor Burghart respected the request and thanked Dr Uerlings for his many years of good work for the city, including during the coronavirus pandemic.
