Media collection service now also available in the Vita Centre and Yorck district libraries
From Tuesday, 23 February, Chemnitz City Library is extending its media pick-up service to the district libraries in the Vita-Center and Yorck area. This means that children, young families and senior citizens will be able to reach the library in their neighbourhood on foot. Anyone who wants to can order books, CDs, films, games and magazines by e-mail or telephone and collect them on site by appointment. However, it is not possible to return borrowed media.

Information on contactless borrowing can be found on the Chemnitz City Library website www.stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de . For last-minute new customers, it is also possible to register online in advance.
And this is how the contactless lending service works:
- Customers of the Chemnitz City Library search at home from the online catalogue: https://opac2.stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de for up to a maximum of 10 items from the stock of the respective district library that can also be borrowed.
- Then contact the district library by telephone or e-mail and provide the library card number, telephone number or e-mail address and the desired titles.
- You will be informed once the items have been made available.
- Please use the library bell at the entrance door and bring your library card with you to the collection point.
Hygiene rules:
- The contactless media lending service in the district libraries with appointment allocation (in accordance with the valid Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance) is offered as long as the incidence in Chemnitz is below the 100 mark. If the incidence of infection increases, the service will be withdrawn.
- Access to the district libraries is only permitted for the collection of ordered media. Access is only granted to users with a valid library card and wearing the correct face covering.
- A ban on access applies to all persons who are or have been in contact with a person infected with the coronavirus if 14 days have not yet passed since the last contact and to all persons who show typical symptoms of an infection with the coronavirus, e.g. loss of smell and taste, fever, cough and sore throat.
