Mayor welcomes students to Chemnitz
The first-year students at Chemnitz University of Technology were welcomed to the city today at the enrolment ceremony in Chemnitz City Hall. Alongside Rector Prof. Arnold van Zyl and the American Consul General Mark J. Powell, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig also welcomed the students to Chemnitz.
"Chemnitz University of Technology is no longer an insider tip. The excellent support and facilities and the proximity to other research institutions and companies in the city and region make the TU one of the best addresses for practical studies in Germany. It is good that Chemnitz offers young people the best opportunities to invest in their own future. Many former students of the TU have found their professional and private home in Chemnitz. This is a great benefit for the city of Chemnitz," says Barbara Ludwig.
Around 2,300 new enrolments are starting their studies at Chemnitz University of Technology this semester. More than 10% of the new enrolments are foreign students, more than twice as many as last year. A total of around 10,500 students are now studying in 84 degree programmes at Chemnitz University of Technology.
