Mayor welcomes new students at Chemnitz University of Technology
Welcome brochure "Chemnitz Instruction Manual" distributed for the first time
First-semester students are celebrating their start in Chemnitz today. Together with the city, Chemnitz University of Technology is organising a matriculation ceremony in the Stadthalle. The ceremony begins at 5 pm in the main hall. From 4 to 7.30 p.m., there will be an information fair in the foyer of the Stadthalle where the new students can find out more about Chemnitz.
For the first time, a new welcome brochure will be distributed to first-semester students. The "Chemnitz Instruction Manual" has been produced with the kind support of Schloz Wöllenstein and is intended to help all newcomers to settle in quickly in Chemnitz. Mayor Barbara Ludwig is delighted about the growing number of new arrivals over the past five years and wishes everyone a good start in Chemnitz: "It's one of those things with new places of residence: at the beginning, everything is still unfamiliar: the street names may take some getting used to and the city's secret codes have not yet been deciphered. That's why we've developed a user manual for Chemnitz that shows what makes us tick, what we like and how you can quickly strike up a conversation with us."
Various ambassadors from the city marketing campaign "The city is me" show their favourite places and tips for Chemnitz. The user guide reveals which pubs and bars, parks, sports facilities and museums are among the most popular. The brochure will be handed out from mid-October at citizen service centres and residents' registration offices when registering a new place of residence.
